

Judith (Judy) Galbraith Lambert, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side in Boulder, CO on March 14, 2021. Born July 28, 1942 in Berwyn, IL to Norm and Lois Ruth Galbraith, she grew up in Palos Heights, IL and was a proud member of the Carl Sandburg HS Marching Band.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother Charlie, she made life-long friendships that created a unique extended family and a community of love and support, seasoned with her beautiful smile and mischievous sense of humor.
Judy's life was about love, family, friends, community and music. Graduating from Drake University (1964) with a double major in Music and English, she married Clarke Lambert and they began to raise three daughters, moving to Boulder in the mid 70's. There Judy began to teach piano. Following a divorce, she created her own business, Judy's Studio of Music, which would touch thousands of lives, strengthening friendships through Music Guilds and organizations and encouraging an endless number of students to learn to play piano or another musical instrument, developing appreciation for music that will live on. Well known among her students and their parents were her qualities of patience , understanding, inspiration and motivation as well as her gift for musical instruction.
Judy was active in the Boulder Area Music Teachers' Association (BAMTA) for over 40 years and was instrumental in founding the Boulder Federated Music Club (BFMC). For decades she presented students for evaluation by the Musicians Guild and participated in the Multiple Piano Festival (MPF) every November. An active member of the honors music society Sigma Alpha Iota , she often hosted their Christmas Party. Busy with community organizations, she was a member of Zonta International, traveling with the club and participating as Treasurer and President of the Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder and was an active member of The First Congregational Church of Boulder. She was a member of the Arbutus Lake ASSO. at the Galbraith home in Traverse City, MI.
Judy is survived by three daughters, a nephew and their families: Elizabeth (Karl) Hutchinson; children: Kimberly (partner Craig); Stephanie(Matthew) Mish; Katelynne (Isaiah) Truax, and children Zaylynne and Sylas, all of Loveland, CO, Christie Hutchinson, and children Taylor and Landen of Milliken, CO and Michael Hutchinson of Longmont, CO. Jennifer (Bill) Davis and children Jackson and Ella of Longmont, CO. Katie Lambert (wife Krisandra Knight) and daughter Tilly Ruth of Sydney, AU.
(Nephew) Jared Buck (Marlee) Galbraith and children Kaleb, Lexi, and Raven of Collbran, CO.
As well as her sister by another mother, Roberta Bartkowiak Sheehan of Tinley Park, IL.
