A stunning array of beauty, intelligence, vibrancy and passion, Kaisa Ann (Johnson) Meretta, 52, was born on June 15, 1971 in Seattle, Washington, and died on February 14, 2024 in Denver, Colorado.
She is the daughter of Roy Ragnar Johnson and Martha Ann (Mattson) Johnson. Kaisa’s fraternal grandparents, Ragnar and Ann Johnson, emigrated from Sweden in the 1920’s. The Johnsons moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1972, and Kaisa graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1989. She attended Western Michigan University before transferring in 1992 to the University of Colorado and Denver University, where she majored in mathematics.
Kaisa married David James Meretta on December 31, 2013. She spent the most recent part of her career as a Product Manager at Johns Manville. She loved traveling, gardening, animals, mountain climbing, skiing, figure skating, scuba diving, completing the daily New York Times Spelling Bee, Wordle and Crossword Puzzles and doing anything Swedish. Kaisa traveled extensively across the world and most loved visiting warm-weather destinations, hiking and mountain climbing in the summers, and skiing (downhill and cross-country) in the winters.
Gone entirely too soon from this earth, Kaisa’s wit, analytic mind, compassion, fire and zest for life – punctuated by her captivating, radiant smile and her sparkling, expressive blue eyes - will be dearly missed.
Kaisa is survived by her husband, David Meretta of Denver, CO; children, Grant Berke and Lindsay Berke of Steamboat Springs, CO; mother, Martha Johnson, and sister, Linnea Johnson, and husband, David Dylong, of Minneapolis, MN; and her beloved cat, Unagi, of Denver, CO.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Kaisa’s name either to the Swedish Genealogical Society of Colorado (SGSC), P.O. Box 746255, Arvada, CO 80006, or to Sobriety House, 121 Acoma St., Denver, CO 80223. Memorial arrangements have been made through Crist Mortuary & Cremation Services of Boulder, CO.
