

Lori Kilgore passed away on September 9, 2011 at the age of 47 after battling Inflammatory Breast Cancer for a year and half. She was born on February 3, 1964 in Nashville, TN to Jerry Twilla and Lee Kilgore and was later adopted by her stepfather Darryl Kilgore.
She graduated from high school in Nurnberg, Germany and then the University of Tennessee at Martin with a BS in Criminal Justice. She was commissioned into the US Army and was honorably discharged as 1st lieutenant. In her civilian life she was an animal control officer and then later studied to earn her building inspector/code enforcement officer certificates. She loved helping people and animals and volunteered in search and rescue during Hurricane Katrina and during the tornado in Windsor. Lori’s favorite activities were training dogs in urban search and rescue, watching Rockies baseball, skiing and traveling the country and the world.
Lori is survived by her partner of 16 years Shelley Scheideler, grandmother Margaret Stitt, parents Darryl and Lee Kilgore, sisters Elisabeth Long (Tim), Kathryn Woodall (Tony) and niece Samantha Long and nephew Eric Long and 4 beloved dogs Ben, Danni, Ronnie and Emily, and many friends and other family members.
A cremation will be conducted, and then a celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Pl., Boulder, CO 80301. A graveside funeral service will be held at the veteran’s cemetery near Nashville, TN at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Lori’s memory may be made to the Longmont Humane Society, located at 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont, CO 80501.
