During a routine search of the internet looking for former friends and business associates I came across the sad news of Dick"s passing.  He and I worked for a Motorola MSS in St Petersburg in the early 70's.  I was always impressed with his radio genius, perpetual smile and unique laugh.  It was my good fortune and privilege to know Dick for that short time.  As you can tell, even forty years later I still reminisce about our old two-way radio days.   I'm so sorry for your loss.

I just learned of Dick's passing, and I cannot tell you how it struck me speechless. Even though it has been several years since I last saw Dick, the tears and the knowledge that I lost a very dear friend were immediate.  I grew up in New Port Richey, and like Chuck Grey and many others, went to school with "Dickie", (as we knew him) and shared great times as friends.  He was always such a good  hearted person, kind words, shy smiles, helpful and smart.  When we got to high school, I made the cheerleading squad.  Being that New Port Richey was so very small, we were not afforded the opportunity to attend basketball games with the team due to transportation problems.  I cannot tell you how many times Dickie met us all at the school, piled 6-8 of us in his car and away we would go to the basketball game.  He never asked anything in return, even tho he would drive all the way to Turkey Creek, Brandon, Dade City, even Admiral Farragut. Back in our day, that was a very long way to travel, but he did it! Dick was a very special man, and I count myself lucky to have been his friend.  Please accept my sincere condolences in your loss, and know that my heartfelt prayers are with each of you.  I don't know the proper terminology, but address this message to WA4KDL: "Take care and we'll catch you on the flip side" !

I grew up with Dickie. Bob Robson and I lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, joined the same 4H club (his dad was the leader and the school Principal ). Dickie was the one who told the truth about Santa and I chiped his front tooth when I hit h in the mouth with my toy pistol. I was spending the night with him. We did lots of things together but unfortunately lost track of each other after graduating high school and both of us going into the service. I have such great memories of those times. It doesn't surprise me that he lost his life saving someone else. His Dad taught him well. Wish I could have given him one last hug.

I only met Dick a couple of time. I am a friend if his wife Sue. Sue would share w/ me and others, picture Dick took of the wildlife that would cross there place of residence. One year they made a calendar of all kinds of animals. He could have a a professional photographer. Thank you Dick for sharing so many wonderful things and taking care of my friend. Bless you and Rest in Peace.

I first met Dick not long after I began working in the mountains for the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.  It seemed like he was at every fire or medical call from Ward to Larimer County, as at the time he was a volunteer EMT with both the Allenspark and the Indian Peaks Fire Departments.  I never beat him to a call, and if he wasn't at a call, it was only because he wasn't in the county.  His loss leaves a void that may never be filled.
Dick was a fellow Floridian, of the Gator Nation, a rarity in these parts.  And he was good company.  Our last call together was a short search for a lost woman hiking with her 6-year-old daughter near Gold Lake during the week before July 4th.  As we were leaving, I told him "That was an easy one."  With his dry wit, Dick told me "Yeah, well, at least you got to see me again," and we shared another laugh.
Yes, Dick, at least I got to see you again.  Fair winds and following seas, mate.  We'll see you on Fiddler's Green.

We will miss Dick very much.  Our love, thoughts and prayers are with Sue and her family and Nikki and her family.  We will never forget his sense of humor and laugh.  Hank, Mike & Jason.

Dick was a wonderful man, always willing to share what he knew and coach when needed.  The world has lost a great soul.

Dick was always a likeable fellow who would go above and beyond when his fire pager went off.  He took excellent care of his mountain neighbors, and taught me much about the fire/rescue service.  Rest easy, Dick!  We'll see you on the other side!

Dick was always a pleasant guy to visit with, and always the one to depend on when the time came for saving lives!!

Dick was a warm and welcoming person. I was a seasonal employee of the Boy Scout camp up the road from his house. He made it easy and welcoming to feel a part of the Ward and Indian Peaks Fire Department community. Dick's passing leaves a hole in the world. He will be greatly missed.

Prayers for the entire family as you grieve this loss. We are so thankful for the service of your father, Nikki. What a great man. His legacy will live on through your family. God bless you all.
