

Richard “Dick” Myers of Boulder, Colorado passed away on November 9, 2016. He was 78. Dick was born in Culbertson, Nebraska on May 3, 1938 to Arvene and Neva Myers. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1956. He attended the Parks Business College in Denver and upon completion was hired by International Business Machines Corporation in Denver.
Dick was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Jolene Sinner, on March 9, 1958 at the German Congregational Church in Culbertson, NE. They made their home in Denver, CO, where all three of their sons were born.
Dick had a long and successful career with International Business Machines Corporation for 37 years where he held technical and managerial positions in Denver, Boulder, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Memphis, Tennessee. After retiring from IBM, he went to work at the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife call center, where he retired as Director of Communications.
Dick was an outdoorsman and enthusiastic sports fan. He loved to hunt and fish with his boys. He was also an avid trap shooter and was named to the Colorado Allstate team from 2003 to 2009. He loved the Denver Broncos and has been a season ticket holder since 1961. He was also a dedicated Nebraska Cornhusker fan and traveled to see them play in Hawaii and in the Orange, Cotton, and Sugar bowl games. Dick also coached his son’s and grandchild’s baseball teams and served as president of the Northglenn Little League. Dick was an excellent storyteller; he loved to recount life events with an amusing perspective and a sly glint in his eye.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jeffrey. He is survived by his wife, Jolene, children Robert and wife Monica of Madison, WI and Brock and wife Lori of Longmont, CO, sister Cheryl Beckenhauer and husband Jerry, brother Steve Myers and Billy Stanton Myers. Grandchildren, Dane Myers and his wife Shannon, Natalie Myers, Taylor Myers, Nikki Myers, Kaylee and Kyle.
A celebration of Dick’s life will begin with a visitation at 10:00 on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Crist Funeral Home in Boulder, Colorado. The service will begin at 11:00 with burial immediately afterwards. Family and friends are invited to join us for sandwiches and refreshments at the funeral home after internment.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Davis Phinney Parkinson’s Foundation of Boulder, Colorado. The family of Dick Myers wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Boulder Community Hospital and rehab facility, Life Care Center of Longmont, and Longmont United Hospital’s ICU and TCU teams.
