

Dr. Roger Frederick Reinking, age 78, was born February 9th, 1941 in Ida Grove, Iowa and passed on August 29th, 2019 at his home in Longmont, Colorado. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a gentle, wise and loving man. Roger spent his career working as a scientist, specializing in weather modification, for the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Boulder. He was a published author of journals on Cloud Seeding and other meteorology related topics. He began his education at South Dakota State University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science, before earning his Masters in Atmospheric Science from the University of Missouri, and his PhD in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University. Roger resided in Iowa, Missouri and California prior to settling in Colorado. His love for the outdoors and passion for travel led to many amazing adventures in the mountains of Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, British Columbia, China, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Alaska and several European countries. Roger loved travelling, watching live music, hiking and dancing with his wife, fishing with his sons, and spending time with his granddaughters. He was an active member of the Flatirons Ski Club and the National Meteorological Society speaking at, attending and planning many events. Roger had an amazing talent in photography and enjoyed focusing on wildflowers and landscapes. Later in life, he found an interest in sculpting, creating several amazing bronzed pieces that are on display at his home. He spent a lot of time fighting for global sustainability and clean energy, pestering as many politicians as emails he could write. His goal was to ensure his granddaughters and great grand children had a clean planet on which to live. Roger is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Sandy Reinking of Longmont, his beloved sons, Todd of Grand Junction, and Ross of Fort Collins, step-daughter Tosha Renee of Superior, his three granddaughters, Sydney, Adyson, and Aydin, daughter in laws Teri and Kristine and many cousins. Services will be at the Crist Funeral home, Boulder, Colorado on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:00 in the morning.
