Scott Shepherd Dedrick completed his wonderful journey thru Life on August 15, 2024. Scott was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 21, 1951 to Edith Eleanore Dedrick and Dwain Edward Dedrick. They lived in Mt. Vernon, Iowa until Scott was 5 when they moved to Northbrook, Illinois, where he was raised thru high school, graduating in 1969. He enjoyed a happy and loving childhood and learned so much from his parents who were both teachers.
Scott spent 2 years at Cornell College where he met most of his life long friends, a group of wonderful and unique people that he was honored to know throughout his life. The Generals, as they are called, have always been there for Scott and for each other throughout the past 50+ years.
Hearing the call of the magical Rocky Mountains Scott moved to Boulder in June 1971. He spent his last two years of college at the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated in 1974 with a degree in Philosophy. He then spent 3 great years in Aspen/Snowmass enjoying the Colorado mountains before moving back to Boulder to begin his career.
Scott was a residential real estate broker in Boulder from 1976-1986 and then became a residential mortgage banker, also in Boulder, which he enjoyed for the next 20 years. After a final two years managing commercial property, Scott retired in 2008 at the age of 57.
In retirement Scott enjoyed all of his time with his beloved family, his friends and his wonderful dogs. He was lucky to be the companion to 5 beautiful dark red golden retrievers, 2 border collies and one amazing Chihuahua over the course of over 40 years, which gave him immense joy each day. Together over the years they walked over 10,000 miles. Scott also became an avid fused glass artist and created many glass objects that he enjoyed sharing with his friends. He was also a devoted fan of the CU women’s basketball team and all things Buff.
Scott loved living in Boulder for over 47 years with its astounding beauty and quality of life. He knew from day one that this was his home and he cherished every day that he was here.
Scott is survived by his beautiful daughter Corrie, his wife and soul mate Judy and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved stepdaughter, Kaylie, as well as both of his parents.
Donations on Scott’s behalf can be made to Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies or to any charity chosen by the giver. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 12:30PM at 2690 Juilliard St Boulder, CO.
