Antonio S Donato

Antonio Salvatore Donato 86, passed away peacefully at home on March 3rd, 2021. Antonio, better known as, "Totonno," "Toto," Tony,“ and most affectionally “Nonno.” Tony was predeceased by his wife Maria Aquino Donato and his brother Giuseppe (Joe) Donato. Survived by his children Luigi Donato (Pat), Anna Pardo (PJ) and Sam Donato, his grandchildren Nikki Donato Rupp (Ryan) Matthew Pardo, Marissa Pardo, Billy (Laurie) Samuels and Mike (Amber) Samuels and great-grandchildren.

Born in Rovito, Cosenza, Italy on December 22, 1934 to Luigi Donato and Innocenza Scarpelli.

In order to build a better future, Antonio immigrated to Canada. There he joined his brother Joe, sister-in-law Fedora and his nieces Nuccia Morelli, Josie Wade and Annette Wittig. Antonio married Maria Aquino and started a life in Detroit Michigan. Surrounded by a large extended family, he enjoyed visiting and sharing memories with nieces, nephews, cousins, loving brothers and sister in-laws. After experiencing many harsh winters, Antonio and his family moved to Florida.

Tony had many professions from construction worker, machine operator, business owner, baker, to the most recent, and cook. He lived to work, baking bread, cooking Italian food, and growing fruit and vegetables in his garden. Not only did he pride himself in his work, Tony was proud of his children's and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

In retirement, Tony together with his partner "Clara" Clelia Bazell enjoyed travelling to Italy and sharing his homestead in Rovito with his family. Loving anything and everything Italian, Tony enjoyed listening to Italian singers, reading biographies, and playing Scopa. He shared his passion of soccer/calcio with Juventus being his favorite team. Most of all, Tony enjoyed living the simple life with those he loved.

In remembrance of Antonio Donato's (Totonno's) life, our family asks that any charitable donations be made to Hospice Foundation of America, Alzheimer's Association, or your favorite charity.
