Born May 11, 1927, in Decatur, IL, he was a son of the late Lum H. Tipsword and Viola Kinman Wilson.
Mr. Tipsword was a United States Army WW II veteran. He was retired from the Social Security Administration.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Huff.
Survivors include a son, Doug (Michelle) Tipsword; and a daughter, Sally (David) Dillard, both of Bradenton; a brother, Lum Tipsword, of IL; and two sisters, Fran Trimmer, of KY, and Nancy Donovan, of IN; 5 grandchildren, Nick Yoho, Kelli Tipsword, Josh Dillard, Dougie Tipsword, and Jacob Dillard; and one great-grandson, Zae'Vion Kelley.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11am on Wed. Dec. 24, at Manasota Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Tidewell Hospice.
