Dorothy graduated from Manatee High School in Bradenton, FL, receiving her diploma in 1954.
Over the years, Dorothy built a strong work ethic through a varied career. She worked at the Credit Bureau, assisted her brothers at Detweller's Propane Gas, and was also employed with MarNav builders. Dorothy later dedicated 20 years of service to Beall's department stores, where her reliability and care for others were evident in the everyday ways she carried herself.
On September 30, 1956, Dorothy was married to Robert L. Pearson. Dorothy was a cherished mother and is survived by five children: Paul Pearson, Joe Pearson, Mark Pearson, David Pearson, and Debbie Pearson. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jarrod Pearson and Jade Pearson, one great grandson Weston Kenneth Brantley, and by one brother, Gerald Detweller.
In her personal life, Dorothy found joy in the beauty of simple, meaningful pursuits. She had a passion for gardening and classical music, and she especially loved to cook—collecting recipes to experiment with and spending time in the kitchen, where her creativity could quietly shine. Her care for her children and her home was expressed in these daily acts, offered with a gentle generosity that will be remembered and missed.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on April 18th 2026 at Manasota Memorial park.
