He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years Lucy Frankford, and his parents, Nevin B. Frankford and Emma Grace Ulsch.
Following high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1946-1948. He received the World War II victory medal for his service. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he began working for GTE Corporation up until his retirement in 1984.
James and Lucy were active members of Concordia Lutheran Church, Sarasota Ski A Rees (President), and the YMCA Aqua Kats ski team. Together they enjoyed water skiing, scuba diving, tennis, shooting pool and playing ping pong.
They are survived by their sons, Richard N. Frankford (Jerelynn) and Terry L. Frankford (Marla); seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
A private service has already been held in their honor.
