
Joyce went by different names, Joyce Ann Johnson, Joyce Ann McQuillan, and Joyce Ann Rivera.
Joyce Ann Johnson was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to her parents Gerald Owen Johnson and Doris Grace Davis-Johnson on 05/13/1939, she, her two brothers, mother and father moved to Bradenton, Florida when she was a child. Joyce attended at Manatee High School and was a Sophomore in 1957, along with her brother Keith and Bobby. Joyce met her future husband John through his high school buddy and her brother Keith Johnson. Joyce worked in the retail/restaurant food industry. Joyce’s first job was at Davidson’s drug store where Joyce met John’s dad William McQuillan. Joyce and John were married in catholic church in Bradenton Florida in 1960. She and John had two daughters and bought a home on 44th Street in Bradenton, Florida. Joyce enjoyed taking bus trips to Sarasota to visit her daughter Gloria and her grandchildren Kyle and Brandon. She also loved writing letters to Teresa (her daughter) in California. Joyce was deeply involved in Christian church life. Joyce dedicated her life to God and read her bible daily. During our family vacations to Florida Maria (granddaughter) took her to vending machines to buy Mom’s favorite items, Pepsi and Lays potato chips, and Laura (granddaughter) and her husband Brian Tran took her to lunch during their visits. Grandson John and Great-Grandson Jonathan spent many hours reminiscing of good times spent with her. Her daughter Gloria was her caretaker making sure mom attended doctor appointments, overseeing her medical care and providing for her needs, taking her shopping and so many lunch’s at her favorite Amish restaurants. Then when mom was no longer able to walk Gloria visited, cared for mom regularly, bringing her favorite goodies, soda, egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches, and best of all made sure to call her sister Teresa to bridge the long distance and time they spent apart.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters Teresa of Port Hueneme, CA and Gloria of Lakewood Ranch, FL her brother Robert, her Grandchildren, Maria, Laura Tran, and John Sanchez, Kyle and Brandon Stephens, Great Grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Noah, Nieces, Laurie Johnson, Michelle, Elizabeth, Debbie, Alice, Marlena McQuillan, Nephew: Patrick McQuillan, great nephew Noah McQuillan. She is preceded in death by her Parents: Gerald and Doris Johnson, her brother Keith; William, Joseph, Michael, John, Alice, Charlie, Patrick and Norma McQuillan. She was well loved and will be longed missed.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service and Burial will be held at: Robert Toale & Sons at Manasota
