Mary Elizabeth Negris, EdD, 84, of Bradenton, Florida, left us unexpectedly on August, 26, 2014. Her abundant presence will be deeply missed in the lives of her many friends, and the countless people she helped throughout her life. Mary was born in Vicksburg, MS to Arnold and Florence Holton, and raised in Norfolk, VA. She is survived by her sister, Anita Beale, her brother, Walter Holton, her children: Timothy Negris and Rachel Negris and Rachel’s spouse Patricia Lynch, her daughter–in-law Nancy Negris and her grandchildren Scott MacLeod and Sarah Negris Mamani. She is predeceased by her son Daniel Gene Negris.
She was married to renowned pianist and pastor Daniel Negris for 52 years, until his
passing in 2002. As a career educator, Mary taught and enriched the lives of three generations of children and adults in NJ, MA, NY and FL. As a life-long learner, she received two advanced degrees including her Doctorate of Education at 62 years old. She was a professional handwriting expert, and, at the age of 75, learned to play the dulcimer and went on to perform in musical groups in NC and FL. As generous as Mary Negris was in life, so was she in passing. As a Living Donor, she encouraged everyone to follow her example and pay life and sight forward in this way. Services will be held at Manasota Memorial Funeral Home 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203 on Saturday August 30, 2014 at 1:00 PM.
