Norma was born on February 10, 1930 in Athens, Ohio. She moved to Sarasota, FL in 1939. She graduated from Sarasota High School in 1947. She attended Ohio University, Florida State University and Wall Business College. She married George “Benny” McWhorter on April 18, 1951. She and Benny had two sons and lived in Sarasota, Ft. Myers and Bradenton. Norma was a homemaker, she also served as a Pink Lady at Blake Hospital and volunteered for CareNet Manasota Pregnancy Center. She was a member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. Norma loved to travel and spent most summers with Benny and her sons camping all over the country. She loved getting together with her high school girlfriends for lunch and a game of bridge. She welcomed the day she became a grandmother and was proud of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Gary C. McWhorter (Margaret), Jeffrey A. McWhorter (Rhonda), grandchildren, Jeremy C. McWhorter (Melissa), Ryan A. McWhorter (Kelly), Kyle R. McWhorter (Jessica), Amanda McWhorter Bronson (Danny), great grandchildren, Faye, MaryAnslee, Jason, George, Henry and Bradley.
She was a gift to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
