

Born August 28, 1918, in Worcester, MA, she was a daughter of the late David and Maybel Foster Thomas.
Ruth graduated from North High School in Worcester, MA. She went on to attend Framingham State Teachers College, in Framingham, MA. She worked as a librarian at Westminster Public Library, in Westminster MA, and at Orillia Public Library, in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. She was a member of First Congregational Church, in Westminster, MA. She lived in many places during her life, Worcester, MA, Westminster, MA, Orillia, Ontario, Canada, Menominee, MI, Rochester, MI, and Sarasota, FL.
She is survived by her children, David N. Collins and his wife Sandra, of Sarasota, Wayne J. Collins, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Deborah J. Collins-Berry and her husband John, of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Wendy E. Rydell and husband William, of Porterfield, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer (Erik) Grabruck , of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, Jamie (Aaron) Folck, of Fort Myers, FL, Julian Berry and Sebastian Berry, both of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Amy (Nicholas) Foley, of Green Bay, WI, Lindsey Rydell, of Porterfield, WI; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Olivia Grabruck, and Payge Foley; and her sister, Dorothy Thomas Brooks.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at 1pm at the Camelot Lakes Clubhouse, 5700 Camelot Pkwy. Sarasota, FL.
