

After high school graduation he attended Ringling art school in Sarasota Florida before joining the army in 1942. In 1946 Captain Coward moved to Kansas City Missouri where he earned a degree at the Art Institute. After graduation he and his family moved to Sarasota. He started his own interior design business, Coward Designs which prospered for over 50 years. He traveled all over the world to purchase objects of art to use in his business. He was also an artist and painted the Jewels on the Bay renderings for the Boys & Girls Club charity each year. Sam was an active member of the first Baptist church in Sarasota. He moved to Brandon to be near his daughter and lived his retirement years there and was an active member of Bell shoals Baptist church.
He is survived by loving daughter, Pamela Robetor (Bruce); grandsons; as well as great grandchildren, JP (Michelle), Jaden, Journee, Joey (Monica), June, Jaxon, Jonathan, (Julie), Paige Josie, Jack, Jill, Jason (Jessica) and Jonah.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 17, at Bell Shoals Baptist Church; 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon FL, 33511.Family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10-11:00 A.M. Service will commence at 11:00 A.M.
Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home, is entrusted with final care.
