Tom was a Catholic and a member of Hikes Point Christian Church. He worked at Fischer Packing Company Local 227 in Louisville, KY for 36years. He was a conservative writer and his pen name was "Pvt South". His hobbies was in calligraphy reproducing the documents of our country and in some art work. He enjoyed all types of sports. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1956-1958, and also served in the Reserves for a period of time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. Ballard Sr., Pauline C. Oswein; his late wife, Patricia Burke; and his brother, Donald Ballard.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jan Ballard; four sons, Chris (Marcia) Stephen(Charlie), Michael (Lynn), Patrick (Elaine); 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a close cousin, Elizabeth Ann Pickerill.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted with Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park.
