Greg was born in Honolulu, HI on August 10, 1946, to the late Antonio and Rae (Hassid) Teta. Greg was raised in the Bronx. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Long Island University, and Master's Degree in Education from City University of New York, going on to serve more than thirty years as a special education teacher where he was raised. He was more than a teacher; he was an advocate, mentor, and source of encouragement for countless students. He lived in the Bronx, Mt. Vernon, and Manhattan before settling in Yonkers.
Greg found joy in music, particularly rock. A passionate fan of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Ramones, and The Rolling Stones, he attended the original Woodstock Music Festival in 1969 alongside Ellen Green (d. 2001), Dov's mother. Greg was an avid reader and built a cherished collection of signed first editions over the years. His home was a reflection of his love for stories, music, and the Yankees. A dedicated Yankees, Knicks, and Giants fan, Greg especially enjoyed watching games with his son and family.
In his final nine months, Greg lived with his son and his family, where he was surrounded by love, comfort, and devoted care. This time together was marked by closeness and shared memories.
Greg is survived by his son, Dov Teta and his wife, Stephanie Guida; his granddaughters, Ella and Kaya Teta; and his brothers, Scott and Keith Teta.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Garden of Memories All Faiths Mausoleum and Cemetery, 300 Soldier Hill Rd, Township of Washington, NJ 07676.
