Richard Hermann

Richard was born on June 24, 1938 in Manhattan, NY to the late Hermann and Mary (Mensa) Wienberg. Richard moved to Dumont, NJ when he was 8 years old and grew up in Bergen County before entering the service. Richard was a proud Navy Veteran, he loved all that he learned during his time in the service and applied it to life. He loved America and always spoke fondly about his time serving our great country. He was an honorable man in dealing with life; he was hardworking from his early childhood until his retirement in 2015. Richard saw the good in his fellow man and was wise in many ways. Richard loved anything that rolled or bounced and especially the Yankees Baseball Team! This was his passion along with giving his time to help those in need. He was a former President of his Rotary Club and he would volunteer at the food pantry at Lafayette Federated Church and always offered a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He was a great father, husband, grandfather and friend. The Lord used him to make this corner of the world a better place.

The beloved husband of Margie Hermann, Richard is survived by his children, Laura Hume (Robert), Rick Parke (Laura Scognamiglio), Jack Parke (Anna), Suzanne M. Garofalo, Joseph M. Garofalo, Thomas Salimbene and Patti Salimbene; his grandchildren, Robert, Nicholas, William, Christopher, Stephen, Tanner, Madeline, Alexiss, Kate, Ava, Karleigh, and Alexandra and his sister, Frances Werth. Along with his parents, his sisters Anna, Catherine and Emma (Babe) predecease Richard.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Lafayette Federated Church, 80 Route 15, Lafayette, NJ 07848

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to “The Well” LFC Food Pantry, 180 Route 15, Lafayette, NJ 07848, Today’s Choice, 49 High St, Newton, NJ 07860, Toys for Tots, and Operation Christmas Child.
