Cecile McGoff

Cecile Marie McGoff, 94, of Brentwood, California, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Leo Francis McGoff Jr., who passed away just seven months prior.

Born on May 15, 1931, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Cecile was the daughter of Honore and Amanda Mercier and the sister of the late Viviane Burke of Fall River, MA. She was raised in New Bedford and attended St. Anthony’s High School. It was during these formative years in New Bedford that she met the love of her life, Leo. The two were married in 1951 and shared an extraordinary journey of 74 years together.

As a military spouse, Cecile was the bedrock of her family through Leo’s twenty-five-year career in the U.S. Army, supporting him through tours in the Korean and Vietnam wars and assignments in Panama and Brazil. After settling in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cecile enjoyed a long career as a travel agent. Her professional life mirrored her personal passions; she loved traveling the globe and was an avid card player, with a particular affinity for the strategy and social connection of bridge.

Cecile was preceded in death by her husband, Leo , and her eldest son, Leo Francis McGoff III. She is survived by her children, Mark (Janet), Cathy (Shannon), and Peter (Sherri); her nine grandchildren, Jason, Lauren, Samantha, Megan, Erin, Oliver, Maddoc, Garrett, and Jake; and her many great-grandchildren.
