
Jeanetta Kay "Jeanne" Asbe Prince, age 77, of Crab Orchard, WV formerly of California and Carson City, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 4:30 AM at the Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a long illness.
Born on February 27, 1939 at Beard's Fork, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Dorothy Thompson.
Jeanne had attended Crab Orchard Grade School and was a 1957 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Jeanne had grown up in Tams, WV and later moved to Crab Orchard as a child. She became a registered nurse, moving to California to start her marriage and her nursing career. Jeanne had returned back to this area in September 2015, and was a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church since her childhood.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daryl from Las Vegas, Nevada, and a stepson, Samuel Prince.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Ralph Prince, of Crab Orchard, a son, Alan Asbe, a grandson, Alan Asbe, Jr., both of California, and a stepson, David Prince, of Shady Spring. She is also survived by sisters, Fern of North Carolina, and Cheryl and Ginger of California, along with several nieces and nephews. Jeanne leaves behind close friends, Lois Peelish, Patty Dacal, Martha Ventura and also Martha Perkins of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
The family would like to thank her many friends, her doctors, and all who had sent cards, had made calls, and had cared for her.
Jeanne was cremated and her cremains will be sent back to California to be buried beside her son, Daryl.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beckley Area Foundation, Class of 1957 Woodrow Wilson Fund, 129 Main Street, Beckley, WV 25801 in memory of Jeanetta "Jeanne" Asbe Prince.
