Joseph Freitas Jr

Joe Freitas, Jr. passed away at home on April 30, 2015 at the age of 85. Joe was born on October 4, 1929 to Joseph and Minnie Freitas in Banta, California. He moved with his family to the Marsh Creek area of Brentwood in 1941. In 1947, he graduated from Liberty High School where he met his wife of 65 years, Bette.

Joe worked for Shell Oil for 45 years. He started there by digging ditches and he worked his way up to foreman, living in Coalinga, Long Beach, and Cerritos in addition to living locally.

He retired to his home off Marsh Creek Road in 1994 and loved to spend his time woodworking in his shop, working around the house, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Minnie, and his siblings Robert, Dorothy, Bill, Richard, and Frank. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bette, his children Robert Freitas of Brentwood, Kathy Cahoon of Pittsburg, Joseph Freitas III of Brentwood and Debi Maggiore of Brentwood, nine grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and siblings Irene Pearson, Connie Freitas and Edwina McMillen.
