Joyce Geneva Buckingham-Hodgson

Joyce passed away on October 7, 2022 at the age of 86 after a long battle with progressive Alzheimer’s. She died peacefully, loved by family and friends, in a very natural order of things.

Born July 26, 1936 to Jesse and Cleater (Pete) Butler in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she came from a small loving family. She taught us all what is really important in life - to love, support and care for friends and family in our lives. She was preceded in death by her first husband Alvis (Gene) and second husband, Donald.

Joyce moved to Oakley, California in 1946 where she met and married Gene Buckingham in 1951. They both retired from Glass Containers in Antioch with the intention of traveling the states in their motor home until the unexpected passing of Gene in 1992.

Joyce was an outstanding woman who enjoyed crocheting, camping, and bowling. She joined a Senior League in Antioch where she met and married Donald in 1997. They enjoyed traveling by land, air and sea until Donalds untimely passing in 2002.

Joyce was survived by her loving daughters, Theresa Taylor (Jerry) of Valley Springs and Sheila Stalder of Oakley, Sister, Robbie Medina of Oakley; five (5) Grandchildren, Tara Benvie (Rob), Tonia Cook (John), Jerry Taylor III ( Gabriela), Amber Theis and Adam Petko (Erica); fifteen (15) Great-grandchildren, Samantha, Robbie, Ian, Brandon, Brent, Ian; ten (10) Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Oak View Memorial Park
