Beloved wife, mother, sister, tia. abuelita, and friend born on May 17, 1932 passed away November 15th, 2010, at the age of 78. She is the daughter of Justino and Maria Ramirez from Cotulla Texas. Lidia lived there until the age of 10. In 1942, her parents moved the family to Brentwood in pursuit of a better life. Her siblings included Pablo, Lupe, Concha, Augustin, and Tina. In 1954, Lidia married Guadalupe Moreno and together they forged a new life together in East Contra Costa County, eventually having five boys together.
Since arriving in Brentwood, she worked in various jobs in farm work, restaurant business, school cafeteria, and as a teacher bilingual assistant that started in 1968. As a teacher assistant, she absolutely loved her job with the Brentwood Elementary School District. She loved working with children in the classroom, assisting teachers with student learning, and parent communication. Lidia remained on this job until she retired years ago.
In fact, she loved working in the “educational arena” so much, she decided to attend Los Medanos College to work toward an AA degree. Her determination and desire came from her love for learning, and from not being allowed by her parents, to attend high school and further her education after 8th grade. With just a middle school education, and at 51 years of age, she received her degree. Lidia accomplished her degree by attending evening courses for less than three years, and at the same time maintaining a full time job and raising a family.
She touched and inspired many lives with her caring, gentle spirit, and positive outlook on life. Although she has passed on, we will continue to celebrate her life, with the wonderful memories demonstrated in her love for her family and friends throughout Brentwood and the surrounding areas.
Lidia leaves behind her husband Guadalupe Moreno of 56 years, younger sister Tina R. Garcia of Byron, sons Lupe, Robert, Jose Luis, all of Brentwood, and Jorge of Elk Grove. Her nine grandchildren included Eddie, Monica, Robert, Audra, Jessica, Ryan, Michelle, Jordan, and Justin, all were her absolute joy, and an extended loving family too numerous to mention. Family and friends are welcome for visitation Monday, November 22nd at the Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First Street, in Brentwood, California. For family, visitation will start at 4:00 pm, with the public beginning a 5:00 pm. The mass services will be at 11:00 am, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, located at 500 Fairview Avenue, in Brentwood as well. Interment services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2200 East 18th Street, in Antioch. Immediately following the interment, the family will hold a “celebration” reception at Golden Hills Community Church, 2401 Shady Willow Lane, Brentwood, near Lone Tree Way.
Arrangements under the direction of Brentwood Funeral Home, Brentwood, CA.
