April 24, 1956 – June 11, 2012
William Lea West passed away peacefully at home Monday after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends.
Willie was a resident of Antioch for 10 years and was serving bravely as a member of the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District when he was diagnosed with the disease. He proudly served the communities of the east bay for more than 20 years in various public safety roles including EMT and Firefighter, beginning in 1989 as a Firefighter with Lockheed Missile and Space. He was fulfilling a lifelong dream by following in his father’s footsteps to be a Firefighter.
Willie is survived by Jenniffer and Carmen Piper. He is also survived by his father Royal (Patty) West; his sisters Sandie (Marco) Aguirre and Bonnie (Steve) Showalter all of Richland, WA and his brother Robert (Sharon) West of Braintree, MA. Willie was preceded in death by his mother Dorral Lea West.
All friends and family are welcome to come memorialize and celebrate a man whose life brought brightness and love to all that knew him.
Visitation is being held daily until Monday June 18th between the hours of 9:00am and 8:00pm at Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First Street in Brentwood. A full honors funeral is scheduled for 11:00am Tuesday June 19th, 2012 at Golden Hills Community Church, 2401 Shady Willow Lane (at Lone Tree Way) in Brentwood with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to the William West Fund at The Bank of the West in Oakley.
