Arline Richwine Shearer

Arline Richwine Shearer, age 92, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born on November 4, 1931 in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania to the late Carl Richwine and Ethel Martin. She attended Carlisle High School in Pennsylvania.

Arline was for many years a secretary at the Peter Jay Sweitzer Plant, secretary to the Dean of Graduate Studies at Carnegie Tech University and retired as a New Accounts Supervisor with Home Savings of America. Arline was a devoted wife, mother of three, grandmother of six and great grandmother of three. Arline was born in Mt. Holly Springs Pennsylvania. She met her husband Don in the high school band where she played clarinet. They were married for 70 years living in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, California, and Tennessee. Arline was active in the church teaching second grade Sunday school. She made many sacrifices to provide opportunities for her children. She spent endless hours taking her children to music lessons and sports practices. She was a proud parent who loved to see her children perform in concerts and games. She took up ballroom dancing in her early 60’s and continued to do solo showcase performances through the age of 83. Arline and husband Don appeared in the movie “Dance with Me.” She enjoyed traveling with her husband visiting Europe, Australia, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada. She also loved sitting in the sun by the family pool in Palos Verdes, CA and yearly trip to Palm Springs timeshare. She hosted and prepared meals for frequent large family get-togethers on holidays, birthday celebrations and weekends. She enjoyed being with her family. She also loved and was loved by the family pets. In July 2022, Arline had major surgery and was diagnosed with cancer. She never questioned why and never complained, instead she turned to her faith, displayed incredible strength and dignity which inspired many.

Arline is survived by her husband, Donald A. Shearer; children, Deborah Felten; Thomas Shearer; and William Shearer; daughter-in-law, Carol Shearer; grandchildren, Jason Carter; Michelle Brower; Kristina Felten; Justin Shearer; Cory Shearer; and Kristen Shearer; and great-grandchildren, Sullivan Carter; Wade Brower; and Hartley Brower.

Arrangements are being made for a celebration of Arline’s life at The Harmony Senior Living, 9045 Church Street East, Brentwood, TN and a service/burial will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
