

Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George Allen Griffin, Jr.; parents Mr. and Mrs. William H. McClary (Bill and Christine); brother, Edward A. McClary, and aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Wilse Williams (Wilse and Louise).
Survived by daughters; Nancy Carol Griffin and Deborah Ann Griffin; brother James W. McClary (Patricia), nieces Lisa Miller and Stacey Sommers, and nephews Jimmy McClary and Ray Anthony McClary of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters Mary Crandell and Linda Cannon of Port St. Lucie, Florida and brother-in-law Dr. Newton B. Griffin (Betty) of Raleigh, North Carolina and special family members Joyce Ann Gatlin, Joy Nicholson, Jan Gatlin, Jada Bradley, and Thomas Gatlin.
Dixie was born in Scottsville, Kentucky and was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and worked for RCA. She moved to Nashville in 1947 and married her sweetheart and soul mate, George Griffin.
Dixie joined Randall Phillips Builders in 1950. She worked as Secretary-Treasurer and Interior Designer for 40 years. After Randall Phillips Builders, she enjoyed her interior design business (Dixie Griffin Interiors) until her retirement at age 80.
She was an active member of Woodmont Baptist Church. Dixie served for 3 years as Program Chair for the 55 Unlimited Program for Senior Adults.
Visitation will be held at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Brentwood, Tennessee on Friday, February 7, 2014 from five to eight o’clock in the evening and again on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from ten to eleven o’clock in the morning at Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Her funeral service will take place at the church at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday with Dr. Bill Sherman and Jr. John Roebuck officiating. Burial to take place following the service at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, Tennessee.
Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Hyatt Sutton, Mary Anne Sullivan, Rhonda Graham, Dr. Salem Mehio, Dr. Robert Synder, Dr. David Allen, The Radiant Joy Class at Woodmont Baptist Church, the nurses and respiratory therapists at Centennial Medical Center, Bunny Sharpton, Emily Crowe, Janette Pacer, Kathy Meadows, Eddie Phillips, Randy Phillips, Veta Sherman, Patricia Collier, Vannessa Hemmen, Sandra Benedict, and Michele Yates. Active pallbearers include Eddie Chisholm, Nick Nicholson, Charlie Phillips, Rusty Ross, George Clement, Jason Phillips, Tim Siktberg, Donnie Sherman and David Sherman.
Contributions can be made to Woodmont Baptist Church Choir, the American Heart Association, and the Nashville Rescue Mission.
