

After graduation from LaGrange College and Duke University, Jean became a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church and served in Georgia and Mississippi. In 1989, Jean was Minister of Education in Tennessee at Hillcrest United Methodist Church and then at Forest Hills United Methodist Church. She finished her professional career at the United Methodist Publishing House and Cokesbury. During the COVID-19 quarantine, Jean wrote and recorded several songs, some of which can be found on YouTube.
She is survived by a brother, Ronnie Foster of Tiger, GA; a niece, Renee (Jamey) Coleman of Ellijay, GA; a nephew, David (Wanda) Foster of Canton, GA; and by many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Linda Foster.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Gloria will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brentwood United Methodist Church with the Celebration of Life Service beginning at 12:00 PM, 309 Franklin Rd, Brentwood, TN 37027.
Interment will be in Columbus, GA, at Parkhill Cemetery.
