Leon Scott Ward Jr.

He is survived by daughters Jennifer Scott Ward and Merry Beth Ward of Nashville, TN; sisters Lynda Lou (John) Wagster of Nashville, TN and Merry Ward Mirrielees of Lexington, KY; step daughter Susan Trabue Quaedvlieg and longtime companion Caroline Trabue Reed of Nashville, TN; grandsons Michael "Logan" Cornelius of Blountsville, AL, Troy "Hunter" (SaraBeth) Cornelius of Gunertsville, AL and Sjeffie Quaedvlieg of Nashville, TN; and granddaughter Ella Quaedvlieg of Nashville, TN.

He is preceded in death by parents, Dr. Leon Scott Ward, Sr., and Jimmy Marlin Ward of Columbia, TN.

Scott spent most of his early years in Columbia, TN, and graduated from Columbia High School. He attended Vanderbilt University where he was a member of the baseball team and Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University.

Scott served as a Naval Lieutenant on board the U.S.S. Lexington in Pensacola, FL. He spent most of his career at the Metro Register of Deeds Office where he retired.

He was a member of the Shriners, an avid golfer and enjoyed many golf trips with his friends. He loved animals, being around children and watching the Titans, Alabama and Vanderbilt football. Scott was a great friend and loved by many.

Special thanks to the staff of Vanderbilt Hospital and Alive Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Scott in his final days, and to the staff of Belmont Village for the amazing care and compassionate service given to Scott. Their work and dedication to him was indeed a blessing and we are eternally grateful to the care they provided to him.

Visitation will be 3:00-6:00, Thurs., Oct. 21, 2021 at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Brentwood with a Celebration of Life Service following at 6:00. The family requests all those in attendance to wear a face mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nashville Humane Society and Vanderbilt Medical COVID-19 Research Fund.
