Margaret Mason, of Brentwood, TN, formerly of Blacksburg, VA, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2014. She was born on March 29, 1931, in Elkton, VA to Mr. and Mrs. Everett Miller. She graduated from Longwood College, Farmville, VA in 1952. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her husband, John Philip “Phil” Mason, whom she married in 1953; her daughter, Elizabeth Birchett, of Arrington, TN and also her sister, Kathryn Simpson, of Front Royal, VA. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine “Katy” and her husband Mark Graham, of Brentwood, TN; her daughter, Anne, and her husband Michael Montalbano of Loveland, OH; Gary Birchett, and his wife Tammy, of Arrington, TN; her brother, Jim Miller and his wife Rebecca, of Elkton, VA; grandchildren, Caroline, Mason, and Parker Graham; Philip, Andrew and William Birchett; and Michael and Meredith Montalbano. A private service will be held at 10:30am Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Contributions may be made to the John Philip Mason scholarship endowment at VA Tech, Blacksburg, VA or The Church of the Good Shepherd.
