Maureen Pryor Martin, age 65, died peacefully in the arms of her husband and daughter on Saturday July 16, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN after a courageous battle with cancer.
Maureen was born on February 24th, 1957, in Long Branch, NJ to Joseph and Catherine Pryor. She graduated from Southwestern University in San Marcos, TX. Maureen had recently retired after a successful career as an Assistant Registrar at Lake Travis High School in Austin, TX. In 2010, Maureen met the love of her life, Ronald Martin. They fell in love quickly, became engaged in 2013 and eventually married in December 2015. They were blessed to enjoy almost 12 wonderful years together.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Ronald Martin; daughter, Megan Unruh; mother, Catherine Pryor; and her sisters Pat Flippen, Susan Hooks, Barbara Flake, Sharon Sagers. She is predeceased by her father, Joseph Pryor.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Maureen had a passion for traveling, reading, and gardening. She had a bright personality and a vivacious, infectious laugh that you always knew was hers, even from across the room. She was brave and fiercely independent and was always a strong support system for her husband and daughter. She will be missed dearly, but family and friends rest peacefully knowing that she’s no longer in pain and that she was called to be with the Lord in Heaven.
Family and friends are invited to attend a public viewing on Tuesday July 26th anytime between 10am-2pm at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home located at 9010 Church St E, Brentwood, TN 37027. Directly following the viewing, a Celebration of Life will be held at her daughter’s house in Antioch, TN.
