He was born December 11, 1955 to the late Johnny B. Patterson, Sr. and the late Bette Jewel Goad and had a brother, the late Johnny B Patterson, Jr and two sisters, Shelley Wilcox and Tami Keith (Jeff).
Before settling in Tennessee, Michael lived in New Orleans, Louisiana near his dad and family for 14 years. While in New Orleans, he formed instant bonds with his “Bonus Mom”, Barbara Jean Patterson and his additional family of 5 brothers and another sister. We are so thankful to his longtime girlfriend, Wanda Wilson, who has loved Michael through it all.
Prior to moving to New Orleans, Michael lived in Bakersfield, California. He was a member of the Arvin High School class of 1975 in Arvin, California. Like his father, he loved music and played the trumpet in Middle and High School, until he discovered his love of football. Unfortunately, injuries forced him to hang up his cleats. Not one to slow down, Michael focused on his great love of fast cars and riding his cherished motorcycle up Sheep’s Trail on Bear Mountain. Some of his fondest and favorite memories though, were hunting and fishing with his beloved grandfather Jesse James Goad, and enjoying countless water-loving adventures on his father’s boats.
Michael was especially fond of his father’s brilliant mind and was so thankful for the life-long trade his father taught him and his brothers. He shared many stories of working with all six brothers in his father’s Plumbing and HVAC business. He spent many years as a proud member of the Plumbing and Pipefitters Union in Tennessee, where his Union Brothers and Sisters became like family to him. We are grateful for this work family and for the kindness and love shown to Michael throughout the years.
In life, Michael struggled with addictions but knew and loved God which he made known to all who met him. He blessed friends old and new, was always thankful for kindness shown to him and was quick to share kindness with those he knew or just met. Michael would lend a hand to anyone, that’s just who he was.
We will always love and miss you Mikey P!! And leave you with his signature farewell… “Peace, Love, Out!!”
