Born on August 8, 1946 at home in Woodburn, KY, to Albert Franklin Jones and Mary Jane Jones. She was a resident of Franklin, TN and also Nashville, TN and Lakeland, FL.
Survived by her daughters Laurie L.Weakley (Emerald Estock) and Scarlett W. Martin (Ken), grandson, Mitchell F. Martin.
Preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Patricia Lynn Stalion, her husband, William Ross Weakley, and her second child, Baby Boy Weakley.
Her family and friends are very grateful for the loving care of Arosa, Accent Hospice, and NHC Cool Springs. Alzheimers and Neuroendocrine cancer are a tough combo.
An introvert’s introvert and a lifelong reader, she was fundamentally optimistic, observant and very fair minded. Not the life of the party, certainly, but there was plenty of sass and a dry sense of humor.
She told a story of her first day of school. She had been so excited about learning to read but was crushed to find the school was full of noisy children! All her life, she tended to find the world a little “too peopley” for her taste.
She surrounded herself with teak wood, black and red fabrics, plenty of butterflies and books, books, books. She was very interested in recycling and saving water, but also loved a long hot bath. Environmental concerns ended at the driveway; she always had a big hunk of car.
She had her share of odd quirks. She did not believe in sharp kitchen knives and felt that grapes in chicken salad was always a dire mistake. She admitted to being “somewhat particular.” She had an odd assortment of super powers including stain removal, the ability to reverse engineer recipes by taste and spotting four leaf clovers.
Her first job was threading needles for quilters; she sat underneath the quilting. Her first paid job was picking strawberries. She and Bill worked together for many years. She was a bookkeeper and typed her W-2’s on a typewriter without correction tape. Must have been all that black coffee.
After retirement, they traveled the world, everywhere except Bali and Antarctica. She picked up another super power and created meals in hotels for Bill’s special diet using one small pan, a hot plate, and a dull knife. She also loved a good road trip, particularly if the rest stops featured a Cuban sandwich.
Her friends and family have many, many reasons to miss her; feel free to add your own.
