Bob was born May 18, 1947, to Samuel and Ruth Jay of Buffalo, NY. He grew up in Buffalo, and graduated from Kenmore East High School in 1965. Bob studied at State University of New York at Buffalo and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, where he proudly and valiantly served as a Staff Sergeant in the Vietnam War. After serving his country, Bob began a distinguished career in television, where he worked as an account executive and general sales manager for television stations in Cleveland, Chicago, New York, Buffalo, and San Diego. In 1988, Bob and Connie moved to Nashville, where Bob became President and General Manager of WZTV; he later held the same positions at WNAB.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, and friend, who took tremendous pride in his children and dearly loved his wife. No one has ever had a bigger heart. A lifelong sports fan, Bob cherished memories of seeing the New York Yankees play—and win multiple World Series in person—in old Yankee Stadium with his father and brother.
His family will honor his life privately.
