

Mrs. McDonald was born in Herrin, Illinois on February 12, 1940, the daughter of the late Walter Harlon Matthews and Beatrice Durbin Matthews. She won Homecoming Queen for Class of 1958 and was captain of the cheerleading team of Herrin High School. Mrs. McDonald retired from the State of TN as Training Officer Labor & Workforce Development after twenty-four years of service. Also, Mrs. McDonald served as supervisor of flight attendants with United Airlines for many years. She was a lifelong professional singer in Nashville, TN, Aspen, CO, and St. Louis, MO. Mrs. McDonald loved white water rafting and especially at the Grand Canyon. Also, she loved camping, dancing, animals, horseback riding, and was a true outdoorsman. However, her grandchildren and family was the love of her life.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lori Hudspeth and Holly Hudspeth (Jubal); three grandchildren, Sophia Hudspeth, Haven Hudspeth, and Lillian Phillips; a sister, Marilyn Ruppel; and two brothers, Harlon Matthews and Robert Matthews (Mary Jo). Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017, at five o’clock, Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Saturday from three o’clock until five o’clock at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
