

Sheryl Margolis, age 57, of Brentwood, TN, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010. She was born July 8, 1953, in Boston, MA to Joseph and Eleanor Flashman Margolis. She is survived by her husband, Pate McCartney; daughters, Meagan McCartney-Margolis of West Hollywood, CA and Lindsey McCartney-Margolis of Palo Alto, CA. Services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville, 1808 Woodmont Boulevard, Nashville. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville. Sheryl received her BA from Brandeis University and her MS in Social Work from Columbia University. She was a long-time employee of the Vanderbilt University Department of Psychiatry and adjunct faculty member at UT School of Social Work. In addition to serving as a psychotherapist, Sheryl was involved in numerous consulting, research and training projects, which included presentations at national conferences and statewide training. Among the honors received by Sheryl was an award for service, teaching and research from Vanderbilt, and recognition from the Sarah Cannon Cancer center for cancer care and dedication to humanity. Sheryl was an active member of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville, where she was a lay minister and served in the leadership of numerous committees.
