Tyler was one of my closest friends in childhood. He sent me this picture back when we were 11 or 12. It's been in my phone ever since- almost 12 years ago, now. While we drifted apart for a while, it makes me smile to think about chatting with each other outside my Film as Literature class in our senior year at Brentwood. Even though we hadn't hung out in years, it felt as though we'd picked up where we'd left off. I wanted to post this silly picture because it takes me back to the days where we started to become teens and how simple everything felt (aside from being in middle school haha) and captures some nice memories we had together. I want his loved ones to know I still think about those times and hold a spot for him in my heart.

I was Tyler's 4th-grade teacher. I loved Tyler. He was witty and already had a sense of humor beyond his age. He also picked up on tinges of sarcasm here and there that made him extra special. Tyler was a deep thinker. He questioned a lot of what he was being taught. I liked that about him. He wanted to own his own learning rather than sit there and accept everything we had to say as the truth. Tyler found his own truth and would decide what he thought about it. Tyler was also an outstanding writer. I remember our poetry unit. He thought deeper than most. His poetry was colorful and introspective. That says a lot about a 4th-grade boy. Lastly, Tyler had such a sense of humor. To this day, I have a photo of that special fourth grade class hanging in my office... and there's Tyler being a goofball - just the way I loved him. You will be missed Tyler. I love you. Mr. Long

I’ve known Tyler since first grade, one memory that always stood out to me about him is when we were filming a video together for the Scarlet Letter junior year. He kept laughing and making jokes and in one scene I had to slap him. After we filmed that scene he immediately said “can I get a copy of that”, I can’t believe he’s gone but know that he was loved by sooooo many people, including myself 

Tyler had the most contagious laugh that seemed to come out at times that made it even better. His sense of humor and his ridiculous dancing will forever be my favorite things about him.  
He never failed to lighten the mood and bring everyone around him joy. It breaks my heart that this is how it had to end, but he fought a hard battle the past few months and it brings me peace knowing he is finally safe with our heavenly father and no longer battling himself every day. My favorite memory was when he randomly texted me one day after I hadn’t seen him in a couple weeks and he asked me if I wanted to hang out with him, his sister, and her boyfriend. It made me so happy to see how much joy she brought him. I was fortunate enough to spend spring break 2020 with him and I will always be grateful for the time I got to spend with him and the memories we created together.
