
ORAVEC, Andrew, Jr. “Andy”, age 83, of Brooksville, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015. A lifelong Gator fan, Mr. Oravec graduated from the University of Florida in 1953 and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After graduation, he returned to his hometown of Masaryktown, where he owned numerous chicken farms while serving as president of the Hernando County Egg Co-operative. Additionally, he became involved in land development in Hernando County. He later built Community Hospital in New Port Richey, the first private hospital in west Pasco County, in 1971 and served as administrator until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Oravec was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice M. Oravec. He is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law: Sharon & Mark Taylor and Beverly & Matt Lowman all of Brooksville; grandchildren & their spouses: Drew & Becky Taylor, Brent Lowman, Christine & Lucas Boatwright, Rachel Lowman and Blake Lowman; great-grandson, Bennett Boatwright; sister & brother-in-law: Ellen & Jim Langley. He is also survived by longtime friend Brenda Whitley and numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be 5 – 7pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00am, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Masaryktown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 200 Mt. Fair Ave, Brooksville, Fla., 34601, as well as the Alpha Gamma Educational Foundation, for the provision of scholarships at the University of Florida, at PO Box 321, Monticello, Fla., 32345.
