C. Ernestine (Gant) Baker

Ernestine Gant Baker, died on Friday, December 30, 2022. A longtime resident of Brooksville and Hernando County, FL, this last time returning in 1972. She was born in Troy, Alabama, on November 25, 1943 to the late Simon E. Gant and Frances I (Davis) Gant. Ernestine was a customer service representative for Winn-Dixie Grocery Stores, Time-Warner Communications, and before retiring, she worked from home. She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Mark Brown. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Terry L Baker, who she married in 1984. Also surviving are her three sons, Gene Brown of TX, Bill Brown of Hernando County, FL and James Brown of KY, and by her daughter, Tina Scarduzio of Spring Hill, and 2 grandchildren; Christina Moore and John Moore. Ernestine also leaves behind her brothers, Pastor Billy Gant and his wife Carole, of Dothan, AL, and Richard Gant (Pam) of Brooksville, FL. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville, FL. A graveside gathering will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Loyce Cemetery, 17201 Cemetery Road, Shady Hills, FL 34610, from 10:30am until 11:00 am and the graveside service will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Billy Gant officiating.
