Carolyn Stewart was born in Inverness, Florida on February 27, 1942 to Jesse Rudolph Thomas and Helen Oras Thomas. She was the first child in a thriving Cattle and Livestock Farming Family that is now located in Lecanto, Florida.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Deanna Carolyn Stewart and survived by her sons, Thomas Gregory Stewart (Sheri) and Alan Larry Stewart.
Predeceased by brothers, Jesse Harvard Thomas and Ronnie Shaw Thomas and survived by her brother, John Lamar Thomas.
After leaving Inverness, she began a career in Tampa that was a precursor to her work at the Southwest Florida Water Management District, SWFWMD or Swiftmud. She worked for the State of Florida Legislature as an Administrative Assistant to two local State Representatives, and very active in both the local and state political arenas. She was a very active participant in the local chapter of Small Business Women’s Association—a place where she would network and eventually start a new chapter in her career as a Real Estate Agent. Her real success was found in the Commercial Real Estate Market, where she thrived until retirement.
Always an avid supporter of the local sports teams, especially football, and the local Baptist Church—she melded the two and would feed the Hernando High Football Team pregame meals, for years and years on the church campus.
Carolyn Stewart will be missed by many family members and friends alike!
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm, Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville (2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601) where Funeral Services begin at 12:00pm, with Pastor David Hope officiating.
