After graduating from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, at the age of 19 with a bachelor’s degree in education, Charlotte began her career as a teacher. Throughout her years in education, she impacted the lives of countless students.
She was deeply involved in the Methodist Church, with active membership and service in both Brooksville, Florida, and Cody, Wyoming. Her faith was a constant source of guidance and comfort throughout her life.
She had a deep love of travel, particularly throughout the western United States. The mountains of Wyoming held a special place in her heart and were among her favorite places to visit and spend time.
Charlotte is survived by her eight children: Marguerite Elizabeth Nutt, Mary Virginia Nutt-Williams, Ben Worth Nutt, Jr., Robert Craig Nutt, Charlotte Amanda Nutt, William Alexander Nutt, Catherine Anne Nutt, and James Allen Nutt; seven grandchildren: Robert Henry Nutt, John Worth Nutt, Lydia Charlotte Nutt, Marguerite Evangeline Nutt-Pust, Eric River Williams, Lillian Meadow Williams, and Amara Claire Brown; and two great-grandchildren.
Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion and faith. She showed those around her how to care deeply for others, how to create a sense of home wherever life would take you, and how love could be expressed through everyday acts of kindness. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
A service honoring Charlotte’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Brooksville, Florida.
