BURGESS, David E., age 66 of Brooksville, died Friday, May 2, 2014. Born in Wellington, AL he came here 3 ½ years ago from Gadsden, AL. He was a Power House Engineer for Goodyear, served in the U.S. Coast Guard, spent many years as the girls’ basketball coach at Hokes Bluff High School, Hokes Bluff, AL. He was active in Brookridge Crime Watch and Beautification Committees, he was a craftsman, enjoyed bicycling, working on street rods and gardening. Survivors include his wife: Wanda; sons & daughters-in-law: Brian & Dyann Jones and Raymond & Erin Worden; daughters & sons-in-law: Donna & Clay Alexander, Amber & Kieron McFayden and Jennifer & Robert Mauldin; one brother, three sisters, ten grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00pm, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at East Gadsden Baptist Church, Gadsden, AL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
