Van Horn, Gary Paul (Willis) (Sgt, Ret.) born February 16th, 1950, adopted in 1972 by Fredrick M. Van Horn from Trenton, New Jersey; Mother, Virginia Irene Keeley from Des Moines, Iowa, no known siblings. Gary passed away on Friday, April 24th, 2015 in Hudson, Florida. He was 65 years old. Gary left no immediate family behind; however, he did leave behind his friends. He was never married, no children, and entered the U.S. Army where he served with honor in Vietnam. A Bronze star recipient, he never spoke of the war only to proudly fly the American and Prisoner of War flags on his property. Gary loved animals, mainly dogs, enjoyed an occasional war movie, or action flick, and loved his oldies music and his Jeep. He lived a very quiet life. His friends called him “Gary”. Gary will be missed more by his immediate friends, Daryl Flowers and Judith Shelly than I suppose anyone else. He lived his life by a Military Honor Code and commanded his presence until the end. Rest in Peace Gary Paul Van Horn. May God’s blessings be upon you.
