
Born February 2, 1934 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, he was one of 14 children and the son of the late Bernard and Theresa (MacLellan) Delaney. After retiring in 1997, Hugh and his wife, Alice, enjoyed many years as snowbirds between the Cloverleaf Community in Brooksville and Neversink, New York before moving permanently to Brooksville ten years ago. He served in the United States Army and was the owner and operator of Delaney Carpet Service in Woodbourne, New York. He served three years as president for the Tri-Valley Lions Club and served as Master of the Hernando Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Liberty New York Elks Club and St. John Episcopal Church in Brooksville. Hugh loved his family, he loved to golf and he loved his Ford Mustang convertibles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Marie Delaney; sons, Donald Delaney of Lakeland, Florida, Allen Delaney of Headland, Alabama, Hugh Delaney Jr. (Theresa) of Woodbourne, New York, and Bryan Delaney (Eileen) of Neversink, New York; daughter Lynn Delaney-Buley (Gary) of Neversink, New York; siblings, Bernard Delaney, Stella Stewart, Barbara Delaney, Martin Delaney and Daniel Delaney; grandchildren, Cassie Stanley, AJ Delaney, Colby Delaney, Benjamin Delaney, Kevin Delaney, Allyson Delaney, Amber Donovan, Autumn Buley, Austin Delaney, and Brooke Delaney; and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, James Craig Delaney and siblings, Roderick, Jim, Howard, Jack, Mary, George, Douglas, Veronica and an infant sister.
