Janet Leigh Batten

Janet Leigh Batten of Brooksville, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. Janet was the youngest of three girls. Janet was born September 25, 1957, in Dade City Florida to Clinton “Lucky” Crawford and Nancy Llewellyn Crawford.

Janet graduated from Pasco High School in 1975. After High School graduation she became a dispatcher at the Dade City Police Department. She Later attended Pasco-Hernando County Community College Police Academy. After graduation from the Academy, she became a Police Officer at the Saint Leo Police Department. In May of 1980 She started as a police officer at the Treasure Island Police Department where later she was promoted to rank of Sergeant. Janet was the first female to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant at the Treasure Island Police Department.

She was preceded in death by her father Clinton “Lucky” Crawford of Dade City, her sister Sharon Evelyn Mathis of Dade City and her husband Burl Batten of Brooksville. She is survived by her mother Nancy Llwellyn Crawford and her sister Brenda Harmon.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 1pm at Brooksville Cemetery, 1275 Olmes Rd. Brooksville, FL 34601.
