CURRENS, Jr., John James, age 90, of Brooksville, FL died peacefully on December 22, 2014. He was a gentle man who loved life and saw goodness in everyone. He was born in Mona, West Virginia and served in the U.S. Naval service as a radioman during World War II. He was a jewelry and watch repairman. He worked at Cape Kennedy in the energy department and participated in the Apollo 11 Manned Landing on the Moon in July 1969. He also worked at Walt Disney World six months before the grand opening and retired after 20 years of service in power generation and then worked 11 years for Volusia County Sheriff’s Department as a crossing guard. He is survived by five children: Allen Currens, Karen Zoretic, Gary Currens, Sherry Currens, Jodi Blaine; one brother: Norman Curren; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a good and kind man who loved his children. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am, Saturday December 27, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
