Kenn was born September 27, 1942 in Athol, Massachusetts to Angeline and Ray Perkins. He lived in Athol until age 11, when his family moved to Connecticut. At the age of 4, Kenn was struck with Polio. This would result in numerous surgeries and procedures throughout his youth and early adult life.
Polio NEVER slowed Kenn down or stopped him from achieving whatever he set his mind to do. If anything, it made him more determined to conquer it.
Kenn had a passion for music. He had several bands in and after High School. Guitar was his main instrument however he could play the drums and always sang. Cars were also a huge part of his life from childhood. Working on his father's #3, brother's #101 or numerous friends race cars - he was involved with race cars most of his life. Even owning his own race car for a few years, the #1 Geoff Bodine car. Later years, it was classic cars and car shows with his wife Geri by his side. They won many trophies with their 1923 Model "T" car he did a frame-off restoration on. Sports were also a favorite activity to watch and cheer on his favorite teams. All the UCONN teams, Red Sox, Celtics, and all the Nascar drivers, he enjoyed following their careers.
Kenn spent his professional career as a Mechanical Engineer, working most of the almost 30 years at Raymond Engineering in Cromwell, CT. He retired from Raymond Engineering as a member of their Senior Management Team at the age of 53. After retirement, Kenn moved to Brooksville, FL with his wife. He was an active Free Mason in CT since 1973 and continued the dedication to service here in FL after moving. He was a member of the Brooksville, FL Lodge, later merging with Bushnell, FL. He was still a Mason upon his passing. Kenn was also a Shriner and Kentucky Colonel, serving in many capacities throughout the years.
Most important to Kenn was his family. He was a man of God and Family. He cherished both. Kenn is survived by his daughters, Mindy Lee Perkins of Brooksville, FL and Nicole A. Lawhorn (Nash) of Franklin, NC; his beautiful sister, Beverly (Perkins) O'Brien (the late Richard) of Leominster, MA; granddaughters, Brooke A. Hardy (Tyler) of Lewistown, PA and Delanie Menendez and husband Blaze of Brooksville, FL; as well as two future great-grandchildren who are expected this year; Kenn had many nieces and nephews as well as cousins he held dear.
Kenn is predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife, Geri (Ramsdell); and his brother, Walter L. Perkins (Bonnie).
Kenn was a strong man of Faith and Character. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed immeasurably. He passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 with his loved ones holding his hands. He is now in God's arms resting. No longer in need of his "darn crutches".
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
