Mary Ida Asbel

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mary Ida Asbel at the age of 84. Mary Ida was born October 26, 1938 to Daniel Edgar Stephenson and his wife Georgia Elizabeth Cumbie in Coffee Springs, Alabama. Mary Ida was 6 weeks old when her family moved to Florida.

An important moment in her life was when she was 18 years old, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and her faith in Jesus never wavered. Mary Ida graduated from Hernando High School in 1957 and was always happy to attend a class reunion. Her classmates still gather regularly to get together and reminisce about the good old days. A very special man from Fivay Junction, Pasco County Florida came into her life in 1957 by the name of Norman Delbert Asbel. They dated and in September of 1958 got married and made their home in Brooksville, Florida. In June of 1962 they had their first child, Bruce Alan and in March of 1968 had their second child named Maresa Naomi.

Mary Ida was predeceased by her beloved husband Norman Delbert Asbel. her parents Daniel Edgar and Georgia Elizabeth Stephenson, her brothers Billy Joe, Gene, Bobby and Larry Stephenson.

She is survived by her faithful son Bruce (Linda) Asbel, devoted daughter Maresa (Don) Tucker, loving Grandchildren; Erika (Christopher) Millett, Carly (Nathan) Morrissette, Kyle (Grace) Tucker, Ronald (Vanessa) Senft, Kurt (Rachel) Senft. Mary Ida leaves behind 5 loving Grandchildren, 12 loving Great Grandchildren and a Great Great Grandchild. She also leaves behind her loving Sister-In-Laws Marilyn Stephenson of Sweetwater TN and Susie Mitchem of Plant City Fl, many loving nieces and nephews.

She is eternally loved and will be greatly missed by many! A Celebration of Life will be held at Living Word Fellowship, 1244 West Jefferson St. Brooksville, Fl on Saturday, May 27. 2023. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Service to follow. Burial will be at Brooksville Cemetery following the service.
