Rebecca A. Orr

Rebecca is the oldest of four children. She was born and raised in Opelika, Alabama, where she attended and graduated from Opelika High School. Rebecca accepted Jesus into her heart as a teenager and has served Him her entire life.

She met and married Billy Howard Orr on a blind date and they were married six weeks later. Rebecca and Howard were married for 49 years and, between the two of them, they raised 7 children. Rebecca’s passions were sewing, cooking, and Bible study. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and honored Him always. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Brooksville, FL and Spring Lake United Methodist Church of Spring Lake, FL. Over her life, she has taught Sunday school, served in the visitation ministries, and the women’s ministries.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Howard Orr; her parents, Arthur and Gerthie Mangham; her son, Russell Orr (Connie); her brothers, Arthur and John Mangham; her granddaughter, Misty Orr; and her great-granddaughter, Sydney Elise Fillmore. She is survived by her six children, Curtis Orr (Jackie), Sharon Lemmons, Larann Irby (John), Ann Tidwell (David), Michael Orr (Robin), and Pamela Lee (David); her brother, James Mangham (Sue); 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 with a Visitation beginning at 1:00pm at Merritt Funeral Home Brooksville (2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, FL), where Services begin at 2:00pm. A reception will follow.

To honor their mother, the family has requested attendees wear spring colors to the Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, the family has also requested donations be made “In Memory of Rebecca Orr” to HPH Hospice at 12242 Cortez Boulevard Brooksville, FL 34613. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.merrittbrooksville.com for the Orr family.
