Richard Harding Daskam, Jr.

Richard “Dick” Harding Daskam, a long time resident of Danbury, CT, died peacefully on July 4, at the age of 80. He passed after losing a heroic battle with cancer.  Dick was born on January 23, 1936 in Stamford Connecticut. He grew up in the Norwalk, CT area, and then moved to Danbury, CT in 1964. He then retired to Brooksville Florida in 2002.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Rita Daskam, to whom he was married to for 57 years; his three children Kim Daskam and her partner Matt Saltus of Austin Texas; Rick Daskam, his wife Paula, and their daughter Alex, of Southbury, CT; Jolene Rotella, her husband Joe, and their daughter Nicole, of Danbury Connecticut.  He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Jackson and her husband Joe; Sharon Hall and her husband Jim, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Gary Daskam, and sister Gail Sweet.  He leaves behind a true friend Sammy, his devoted dog.

Dick was an entrepreneur in the beverage and food industry, owning several franchises and distributorships over the years.  However his true passion lay on the golf course. Dick loved to play and achieved four holes in one throughout his golfing career. Many knew him as one of the “starters” of Richter Park in Danbury, CT. A place he played often and loved well. He then carried his passion of golf to Brooksville, FL, where he was  an active member of both Rivard and Oak Hills Golf Courses.  There he created another golf family of friends.

Dick was a wonderful happy go lucky man and always gave out a “How’re ya doing partner” to everyone. He always took time to stop and chat, visit and have a cup of coffee.  His illness was faced with the courage and humor that anyone who knew Dick would expect.  He was loved and will be missed dearly. 

His family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. V. Malhotra and FCS.

A memorial mass is to be held at St Francis Cabrini Church, Spring Hill Fl. Saturday July 9that 12 PM. There will be a celebration of his life immediately following at the Rivard Golf Course in Brooksville Florida.
